Information
The Verdier site located in the heart of the village of Burzet, this flow results from the Ray-Pic, one of the basalt flows of France richest in peridotite nodules. Very nice view of the Bridge.
The vast majority of the enclaves of this flow are in peridotite, in lherzolite with spinel to be more precise. They are therefore almost intact mantle samples, torn off by the ascending basalt in intra-mantle cracks between the partial melting zone of the mantle (around -70 km) and the Moho (around -30 km).
