Sculptrice à Jaujac en Ardèche

Opening : From 01/01 to 31/12.

Yzo is a material artist. Steel is her preferred medium, but she also adds to her body of work work on paper, mixed media, artist's books, etc. Exhibition space in the studio and visits on request.

My sculpture is devoted to the relationship of domination that man imposes on nature. I'm interested in the confrontation between humans, who seek to make the world in their own image, and nature, with its incredible resilience. The subject is not the collapse of humanity but the search for a way of balancing things out.

My material, steel, is chosen to reinforce my point. It is through metal that man has dominated nature, and it is with metal that I seek reconciliation. To achieve this, I am physically committed to giving this industrial material an organic, mineral form.

I approach my subject through several themes that I explore in parallel. With Colonisation, I give form to the notion of territory. Erosion and Ruiniform Landscapes question the notion of time, the time that transforms everything. The strata of works in the Fragmentation theme attack the conquering mythology of anthropocentrism. And with Exploitation, I question the notion of resources.

If you look at my work as a whole, you don't see a strict formal continuity, but rather a thread of thought linking all my works. What I'm trying to do is decentralise human subjectivity.
